Welcome to the Wine Investor website. Our goal is to create a Wine Investor community and to identify and rate the services available to the community.

Today wine investing and collecting is undergoing a change. A decade ago it was the domain of seriously rich people or a few, enthusiastic, oenophiles. Today this group has broadened and the buying and selling of wine is often the topic of conversation around dinner tables or in the workplace. What's caused this change? Key reasons are the booming stock market and the disposable money it creates, the performance of wine as an investment, wine personalities and educators (for example Robert Parker and Marvin Shanken) and a range of new wine services enabled by the growth of the internet.

So the Wine Investor of today includes both the person who attends the Bordeaux En-primeur wine tastings every spring, and buys a 100 cases of wine AND the person who has bought a case of 2000 Léoville-Barton with the intent of drinking half and selling half. We've called this broader group Winevestors.

To use investment language, the world of wine investing was an in-efficent market, in which a few people who had a lot of information were able to use it to make significant amounts of money. Today this inefficiency is dwindling as more information and services become available. These services include online wine retailers, wine clubs, online wine auction sites, full broker wine services, and wine funds to supplement the existing establishments, such as auction houses and wine merchants, some of which have been around for centuries.
