Wine Shipping Advocates

There are a number of sources of information focused on wine shipping. Some of them are groups of interested parties who have banded together to push a wine-ship-friendly point of view. Others are wine shipping vendors.

Wine Institute

The Wine Institute is a Californian organization, created to provide information, and be a lobbying group for California wineries. They have been especially active since the 2005 Supreme Court break through. They provide the most accurate information on wine shipping. The focus is on California issues and shipping from wineries.

Free The Grapes

‘Free The Grapes’ was formed in 1998 by six winery and consumer organizations to allow wine consumers to purchase the wines they want, in the manner of their choosing. They are an activist group, which allow consumers to go online and send communication to their congress member and lawmaker.

Anyone remotely interested in this issue should use their site to build the momentum of wine shipping revolution.

Specialty Wine Retailers Association

The SWRA was launched in March 2006. In the aftermath of the Supreme Court decision all the focus was on wineries shipping to consumers. In the many state negotiations, the retailers were being forgotten. SWRA formed to rectify the balance and to be a voice for wine retailers. They have been active in a number of court cases, but for the consumer the website is unrevealing.
