The facilities in the liberal wine law states, often allow wines to be shipped to and from them. For the vast majority of Winevestors, who do not live in sophisticated wine cities, it is a key requirement. The questions for the vendor have to be pointed: do they ship wine to and from your home location, and if they do, do they take the responsibility. There is nothing worse than building up a wine investment in a different state, only to find that you cannot get it home. Lastly how much is the shipping – there can be huge differences in cost.

Some facilities have taken this one step further and have contracted with shipping companies for good rates and give discounts for consolidated shipping (ie doing fewer shipments with larger numbers of bottles).
